Hi,

first time poster although I've been checking out the site almost daily since I found it about 6 months ago.

I like reading the posts by Matt_RFC, franklyscouse etc.

I beleive all the talk of corrupted governments, worlds elite and general baddies that influence our lives and keep us distracted but my question to the Ed and other posters is this:-

Do you beleive there are good guys out there? and by that I don't mean normal everyday people like you and I.
I mean people with as much power and influence as the bad guys! If so is there any evidence of such people and if someone did step forward with the power to say all this is wrong, would they be believed or just dismissed as being yet another bad guy with his own agenda?

DeV ( Liverpool fan ;) {Ed001's Note - I have never seen any evidence to suggest there is anyone out there like that. Just different factions using us for their own ends.}

Good question dev, its hard to define good,i think people do good things that we all would agree with but like edd suggests its prob for hes own benefit, the really good guys like the people who know how to cure cancer/aids free energy , never get a look in.so to answer your question people do good things but not for the right reasons.

I think most of the offspring of these super elite families know no different, therefore are programed/schooled from birth to be what they are its their culture and myself and any of us could well be just the same as them if our parents were royalty/government financier/arms tycoon, we dont know what its like having more money than you could spend in your life and power, they live in their own realm. Flip side of that is they dont know what its like to live my world, what I would class normall, job/car/kids/mortgage and I dont know what its like to live in the 3rd world and admit I dont worry about them when Im sipping a beer watching telly in my central heated house. So I think its a perception thing and I think possibly they dont see themselves as evil thay dont know any different, but status will probably go to your head I would imagine.

Cheers for your thoughts people.
I just think there must be some behind the scenes "good guys" about keeping some sort of status quo otherwise I think the whole world would be a lot more chaotic than it is!
Don't get me wrong, being a Marine I know the world IS chaotic but I think it would be a lot worse!

To be honest i don't think there are good and bad guys, just greedy.

Agree2 Disagree2

I believe there are probably some decent people
in lofty positions (not too many though) but the ones at the very top are VERY right-wing and have that sense of born superiority and entitlment that
Matt alluded to. Add in the the fear-factor and secrecy even amongst different "compartments i doubt there is a powerful anti-military industrial complex group out there , just a few individuals
who have been speaking out for years i.e Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, John Pilger and the late Howard Zinn.

I hope there will be a world-wide "awakening" to what's going on. only time will tell...

JR (LFC)

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree JR.
What I think is standing in the way of any "awakening" is what I call the 'Wall-E' culture in the west.
I don't know if you've seen the Disney film Wall-E, but basically, everyone is on a spaceship/cruiseship and they're hooked into their virtual world (read - iPhone, laptop, TV) that they don't see what's really going on in the world. Which the elites are happy with because they're free to do as they please, because Joe publics too busy downloading the latest version of Angry Birds to care!
Plus, they're getting fattened up on junk food which is killing them, so when and if they did realise, they'd be in no state to do anything about it.

On another financial issue, I know it's far more complicated than it sounds due to fluctuating markets/currencies, but my question is why can't we have zero inflation permanently & zero interest rates? Surely everything then would be based more on merit economicly.

Supasub

Believable1 Unbelievable0

To make it simple, inflation is what happens when more money is issued, it reduces the value of the money allready in circulation, this is why a house that cost 1500 50 years ago now costs 150,000 - 200,000. The system is called fractional reserve banking, ie you can lend out at 10 times your assets, problem is we dont really know the value of our assets do we so they can pretty much do what they like. You must have heard the phrase on the news "The cost of government borrowing is rising" this is why we have inflation, if they dont print it and lend it they dont make a profit on it. If you dare to come up with a more transparent alternative you get shot in your cavelcade in Texas.

Matt_RFC {Ed001's Note - there are other reasons for it too, such as pressure from workers. If you don't give your staff a pay rise each year, you know their productivity will drop. That is not a major amount of inflation, but it is a major reason why it will never end.}

"Naked Billiards" is that the best the royal spin doctor can come up with ?

Matt_RFC

Well there was certainly some ball action......boom, boom.

If they'd caught him doing doggy style they'd have said it was a royal traditional game of naked wheelbarrow racing

I think Prince Harry's behaviour is disgraceful, why was there only one naked girl with him, where were the others?!

Pepperpot

If I were 3rd inline to the throne I'd be surprised if I weren't in the press for the wrong reasons every week.

Supasub

I'm not really bothered about prince harry and what he gets upto. Loads of blokes have been on stag do's and birthday trips and general wild lads holidays all over the mediterranean or amsterdam or vegas and got up to the same things. No one gives a hoot, its only as harry is famous its news. Does it matter. More serious things are happening that are news than some spoilt person doing what all lads his age do.

Agree3 Disagree0

Why are they bleating about his privacy? He was at a party with 15 other people who had their cameras out. What did they think was going to happen, that someone wouldn't flog the photo's for a few quid?

Any good conspiracy theories on the euro? I never expected it to work. Too many differences in the economies of places in southern europe as opposed to northern europe made it an unworkable project. First crisis its had has severely damaged it. One of the very few things Mad Maggie got right. But surely all these people would have known this? I'm just a nobody with no economic or financial background but i said ten years ago the euro wouldn't work like i said back in 2004 to my mates the housing market would crash. So if i knew this why didn't all these financial whizzkids? And the politicians. Or did they know? Was global crash in 2008 a kind of financial 911? I'm guessing you'll say yes. It was all done to benefit certain people. But any good sources out there?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Maybe part of a grand plan to have fewer currencies eventually leading to a single global currency.
Although slightly seperate issue, a move towards a cashless society where we have just a payment card(s) and our mobile phones/devices to make payment, we can also then be monitored 100% at every single transaction.

off work with a busted ankle and as daytime tv is so bad i've mainly been flicking through the news channels to see what lies are being told. I have watched a fair bit of russia today after seeing people big it up on here. Its alright been some good stuff. But i do have to say you shouldn't take it as gospel either. Its still propaganda just from the other point of view. There doesn't seem to be very much on Russia actually on there. But worth watching. Just keep an open mind and don't believe everything same as with any other news service.

{Ed033's Note - Webster G. Tarpley, Ph.D. (historian and geo-political analyst) gives a good account of what is really going on and is on Press T.V. a fair amount. Webster's web site is http://tarpley.net/

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, they avoid Russian Political stories, its more of an expose on the west, its a bit of a mud slinging channel at USA, which I like
