Sorry for the new thread ed and posters, but having major difficulty trying to post using the reply tab (using iPhone so apologies again)

To the poster mentioning communism:
I think (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the poster who mentioned banning religious teachings in school may have simply been looking at it from this perspective!
That to take quality time out from a proper learning curriculum ie. maths, science, modern studies etc ... To be told about religious belief/story's is a waste of time for both the child and teacher. Our children could be using that time on a proper subject, learning about true things in life and not fabricated nonsense. And I'd like to think that the teachers would be happy to see the back of it as well, as its time that could be put to proper use. Children are very open minded and they should be, but to fill their innocent heads with religious garbage is simply not fair. That's one of the things I really don't like about religion, they don't like questions being asked, because they like to believe that "god" done it all.
So while maybe the posters words may have unsettled you, it is his right to express himself however he wishes. And in a world free of religion, the more people will be able to do so.
Can I ask you (communism poster) which god you worship/follow, and your thoughts on gay marriage? as I'd like to know your view as you seem to be of a religious persuasion!

Peace

Ps! Sorry again for the new thread guys!

I'm not the anonymous poster but I always found re interesting in school because it isn't about just sitting down and reading the bible, it's actually more about philosophy than religion as we talked more about whether god existed than religion, some people in my class were atheist and some were Christian but it didn't really matter
LP

Agree1 Disagree1

Hi LP, I also find many parts of religious texts interesting, but nothing more than that. There is nothing wrong with people believing whatever they like, but even most religious people don't really believe their own religion. Ie. I know of no man/woman who actually believes Jesus was crucified and all that carry on, or that another god flew up to the heavens on a winged horse, it really is nonsense and can't be believed at all by a thinking person!
It's all harmless until they teach it to kids as fact!

Yeah I agree i don't believe Jesus was crucified, I'm not religious on paper or in real life but I'm no atheist. One of the best quotes I heard about Jesus getting crucified was someone who said if Jesus had been sentenced to death 40 years ago, people would wear electric chairs or nooses around their neck
LP

Agree0 Disagree2

In the my opinion the events of 2000 years ago that are written in the bible may be being misinterpreted

Agree0 Disagree2

Love that quote, can't remember who it was either. Lol
You make atheism sound like a bad thing there lp, any reason for that? I seen you said you are in no way religious also, don't worry, you don't need to tag yourself with the word atheist if you don't like, but if you are neither my good man, how would you describe yourself if you had to?

Ps! I hope my reply doesn't seem like I'm being a bit of a bell end mate, just interested as to what you believe/would call yourself!

You can easily check out the original translation on the web. There are some words that have been changed to suit the times, but it's all the same stuff in all those holy books mate. Just good old fashioned story telling and nothing more than that!
What do you make of what Moses done after he was givin the 10 commandments? And ed, I'm watching you on this one! Lol

Glasgow {Ed001's Note - hahaha, you know I am glad you are discussing it though. I always make sure to read any texts I can, I even sat and read through some literature from 7th Day Adventists the other day. Bloody heavy going, but I wanted to make sure I understood them before I dismissed them as loons like everyone else does. The literature was very good at obscuring what they really believe.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Jay there's no problem with your question, I'm not against atheism or religion, I've never been religious because I do think it causes wars and my parents wanted me to decide what i wanted to be once I was old enough rather than christening me but I can't call myself an atheist because even though I'm skeptical on god/gods I'm probably more in favor of there being a god or gods rather than there not being anyone up there.
LP

Hi lp, I see what you're saying. I would like to think there are other beings out there, not gods or anything like that, just to know that in the vastness, out of the blue, there are others! I'd hate to think that the beauty of life as we know it, only existed here, on our rocky terrain. I hope that life as we (at least) know it, is being enjoyed and embraced the way it should be!

Always liked these lyrics/words from a (don't judge too hardly, lol) hardstyle track "life beyond earth" by Project One:

I wonder, are there any other worlds where the spark of life and intelligence burns?
Is it possible that, as you look up at the same stars on a warm summer evening, or a snowy winter midnight and wonder if humanity is alone in the universe, at the same instant, someone else on a distant world, is looking up at the same stars so seeing the very same question?

Love that!

CNN's Piers Morgan interviewing Alex Jones tonight, Morgan has put a you tube clip of Jones getting irate and beating hes chest to his followers to make Jones look stupid, Jesus i hope Jones shuts him up tonight, anyway before Jones flew for the interview he got arrested for not taking his shoes off and got harassed at the airport by the security who knew him by name, eventually they dropped charges obviously they did not want to draw attention with Alex Jones claims, hope to see it tonight or tomorrow.

hey edd and fellow posters i mentioned about Daniel Morgan who was murdered 25 years ago, i have done a bit of reading and was shocked (i shouldnt be)about the amount of coverups between the police and the nofw on the Hillsborough scale in fact i would say its worse because the was a contract put on Daniels life by active police, i urge everyone to look on youtube for

The Daniel Morgan Murder and News International

it will explain the case better than i can.
