Is this a case of keeping us using broken ideas that will never improve to keep us paying for tech say instead of bying one light bub every 10 years that is eco friendly, we keep buying crap ones they churn out?

The whole idea of patenting stuff is outdated and hinders technological and scientific progress for the sake of the pursuit of profit instead of for the benefit of humanity. It's yet another huge flaw in a monetary system. A society based around competition and debt slavery will never flourish the same as a society based around unity and social cooperation.

An interesting perception of copyright laws from the fashion industry.
