Hello all - this is my first post though I have been following the site for a while.

One aspect of the Jo Cox murder that I haven't seen discussed is the timing in relation to the financial markets.

Options contracts expire and are settled on the third Friday of every month.

The quarterly expirations (March, June, September and December) are generally more significant.

The June 2016 contracts were due for settlement on Friday 17th June. The last day's trading before the expiration was Thursday 16th.

On Thursday, markets in Europe had been down all day. They also opened sharply down in America.
However, when the news of the murder (and the "Britain First" alleged shouts) came out markets across Europe and America rose sharply (as the prospect of Brexit reduced in probability) .

The Dow Jones was up from the pre news lows as much as 300 points during the session and closed up 250 points from the day's low.
Options settlement was at a much higher level than it would have been had it not been for the news of the murder.

Institutions either selling puts or buying calls could have seen profits increasing exponentially from what would have otherwise been the case.

In other words, some people / institutions will have made millions as a result of the murder.

It is often said that to get to the truth of a matter you need to "follow the money".

Does anybody think that there could have been some large / irregular trades made in the last few days, and if so would that just have been a coincidence?

the markets are like a betting site mate, I have the odd bet and they are just reacting, make no mistake the rich will still make money in or out, it just depends how much more they make if we remain .

frankie, judging by the amount of wealthy people crawling all over msm banging the drum for europe I would hazard a guess that it's in their best interest, and not the working mans to remain in the eu.
What happened to the mp is tragic, but something about it doesn't ring true to me. it just seems all too convenient, remain trailing in the majority of polls, markets world wide jittery, and brussels staring the fall apart of the union in the face.
am I being cynical?

Kim I thought exactly the same thing myself. if the person had been male or old, overweight or of an ethnic persuasion it wouldn't have had the same effect.

Was the same with the Scottish independence referendum, swinging the way of yes and all of a sudden a taxi driver is beheaded and our safety is at risk if we don't keep a strong armed forces. So No wins just like remain will win this time round.

Never looked at the markets to be honest
But good observation but think it is what you make of it from what I've heard the markets have been like that since the start of the eu ref but by the sounds of it you have a good eye on it .
But as frankie said these people got hands so deep the manipulate the markets for self service any how seems there is a awakening lol

Kim hahaha lol loved the pic of words.

Ed 33 I watched a video and it had some numbers you might find interesting (probably already no)
2016/ 06/ 16 (666)
1.48 1+4+8=13
Maybe keep a eye on 31st.

{Ed033's Note - no, i don't know, but what about 2016/06/06 (666). 9/6/6 - 9+6+6 = 21 - 2+1 = 3.

With this numerology, you can make up quite a lot and it most likely means nothing.

Wasn't 666 yet another mistranslation and it's a different number?

{Ed033's Note - i would imagine 666 doesn't mean anything to the control group that we think it does. They seem to be into multiple numbers. All i was showing in my example is that we can make up any numerology and it can mean nothing.
