And if people ever do 'wake up' from political correctness, they are going to wonder how we ever got into such a negative situation.

How about this to begin with; freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of expression, no such thing as a thought crime.

Instead of; mummy mainstream media and nanny state government told me to call you names if you sound politically incorrect.

There shouldn't be a problem with free speech just like there shouldn't be a problem with free speech been challenged.
I like to think of myself being open minded and not totally controlled by the system. What I see going on atm and being highlighted by the MSM is the 2 extreme agendas being pushed infront of us more so than ever forcing weaker people into supporting an extreme form of Islam and an extreme form of Westernization/ cristianality. I refuse to be pigeons holed into either and whilst bring an atheist I have no problem with moderates living side by side in a secular country.
These extremists need air time but rational people need airtime also so as extreme arguments can be seen for what they really are, a division wedge and tool used by the 1%.
