Excuse my ignorance ed but what is the deep state?

{Ed033's Note - Here is a definition - A network of people usually in influential positions entrenched inside government, certain private companies, intelligence agencies, military and other governmental entities. The Deep State controls state policy behind the scenes, while the elected officials are merely figureheads.

Trump and the Group behind him seem to have been trying to replace certain Deep State people so the Group that Trump is part of can make policy instead.
