Hi guys, What's your thoughts on psychics?
I personally believe it's a bogus act, but I know that a lot of people are funny about talking about this, as I've experienced a few times. And I understand that it's hard for people to think hard about and be rationally honest with themselves about the actual possibility of someone speaking to/receiving messages etc. From a passed loved one.

It really angers me to be honest with you, someone taking money from a person who is hurting and is desperate to be told this or that about a lost loved one. Playing with people's deepest feelings, and charging them a pretty penny for the pleasure!

Hey jay nice to see you bk mate.

my take on psychics is a bit like my view on ufo sightings 95% are false and the rest are genuine, I have not seen a psychic but my mum and sisters did a few months after my dad died, they said a few things not a normal person would say, this question also also questions what happens when you die I suppose and for the record, I do not believe in a good/heaven/hell, but I do believe in another dimension that we can not see/ hear.
a example a Caterpillar transform in to a butterfly, maybe are human body is like a caterpillar.

Cheers frankly boy. Quite a deep reply, nice.
The people who claim these "abilities", are masters of the craft mate, they just fish, and these poor people are so willing to hear something, they'll find meaning in most of what the "psychic" says, and pretty much lead the "psychic" without even knowing!
Another thing I find preculiar is that there's a written cheque for a million dollars to anyone who can prove psychic ability, as it would be beneficial to mankind, according to "the amazing randy/i". Who I'm sure is one of the donators to the cheque. Yet no one has came forward and done so.

Did you see Derren Brown and Richard Dawkins discussing cold reading?

Yeah seen the derren brown psychic reading, no doubt you get people who can suss out information out of grieving people and like I said most of them are con artists, I can only speak for my mum who would make a great poker player, she will not answer or indicate if a medium is on the right track.

as for proving psychic ability for a million pound I am guessing the genuine psychics are not money motivated, if I had that type of gift and knew there was a better place when you leave your body the least thing I would be bothered about was a lump sum.

My belief is that 99% of psychics are con artists, but there are genuine ones out there, how they work, I believe that each human mind is connected like Facebook for example, this great conciousness is God in the religious sense, I think that the genuine psychics are able to access this hence knowing things they normally wouldn't know about people.

It's all a load of BS in my opinion.

As for the "genuine" psychics not coming forward for the 1 million because they're not motivated by money. you have to be kidding Franky?

I thought they were all con artists (and still believe 99. 9% are), until I met a woman about 15 years ago, who was able to tell me things that she couldn't possibly have known about people 2000 miles away that she never met. She completely freaked me out with the accuracy of what she told me. She gave me really specific information. She said she could not communicate with the dead. She didn't want payment. She said she had no interest in making money from her gift. I can understand if people might not believe such a story, I probably wouldn't have myself had I not met this extraordinary woman.

Ryan.

To the unnamed poster who said it was BS, why has everything got to revolve around money?like ryan said the few genuine mediums see it as a gift.

I've yet to see or hear of a psychic who isn't interested in money. With the million dollar cheque thing, a genuine psychic not interested in money, could turn up and do the blind testing, pass it and donate the cheque to a charity. But no one has come forward, and the people like John Edward and psychic Sally won't even take calls from the organisation about the test.
Ryan, remember how clever some of these people can be. This woman you speak of, she could be someone just tapping into the whole cold reading thing, and merely used you to practice her work on. All she had to do was get you to place meaning to a name, even if the person is still alive, once that's done, you're pretty much giving everything away without noticing so.
Watch this classic South Park take on it, nailed it perfectly.

Ps. There's nothing I'd like more than to see psychic ability proven, but I'm almost certain that it'll never happen
